The reference manager is a Python Panel that gives you an overview and lets you manage all file references within your current Houdini Session.

The reference Manager lets you manage all the file references within your current Houdini Session.

1. Filter You can filter the table list below by adding search terms here. As you are typing, the table entries will adjust
2. Reference Type Enables you to quickly filter the types of references, whether they are for images, geometry, etc
3. Replacement Allows you to search/replace in the selected entries. The replacement is not finalized until you click the Commit button.

FileCache Load From Disk Mode Checkbox

When this option is enabled, only filecaches that read from disk will be added to the table entries

The Commit Button will make all change live.

The Reset Button refreshes the table to show the current state of the hip file.

Table Collumns:

• Reference Will show the path of the actual reference on disk

  <aside> ⚠️ Right-click in the reference column, has a variety of options. In addition to right clicking, you can modify the entries by just clicking in the table. The change will only take effect after you commit.

  • Localize Files: copies an external reference into the local $JOB Folder
  • Replace with File: replaces the current reference with another file
  • Commit Change: will commit the change in the reference.
  • Delete Files: Will remove the file from disk
  • Archive Files:
  • Find Elsewhere on Disk: Tries to locate the reference in another folder
  • Show in Explorer: Will open an explorer window at the location of the reference

• Node Will show the node in which the reference is present

  <aside> ⚠️ Right-click in the node column, allows you to go to the selected node in the network view.

• Type The Type of reference

• Parm The parameter name of the preference

• Status The status of the reference, whether its local to the $JOB, existing on disk, etc.
