The Asset library is the place to organize a lot of external content such as textures, HDRI's, geometry, materials, etc.

The Asset Library consists of three tabs:

  1. Library Selection

The primary pulldown combo box allows you to select from libraries that were added in the folder management tab. Subdirectories within the folder of the selected Library are displayed in the Subdirs combo box.

  1. Search

Any string entered in this field will automatically toggle filtering of the items. By default, the entire file path of an item is being used for the text to search, ie. having items in a bricks folder, will all show up when searching for "brick".

There are two special modes that can be invoked with a prefix. These can also be automatically trigged by the icons on the right (see below).

!tag will show you any tagged items !fav will show you any favorite items

  1. Filter Item Types

These buttons will let you toggle the display of certain file types in the library, ie. quickly turning off any image content and only seeing geometry, or HDAs, etc.

These status of the toggles can also be saved by right-clicking on the thumbnail area, and choosing "Save Filters as Library Default".

The area where all the thumbnails are displayed. Most of the functionality here is within the right click context.

You can hide the tabs by adding a "expertMode": 1 keyword to the assetLibraryPrefs.json (located in the python panels folder.
